Project Engineer

Project Engineer Job Purpose: Comprehensive management of individual customer projects of existing product line.

Report To: Engineering Manager

Job Duties:

Planning and Project implementation:

  • Review Customer bid packages inclusive of specification data sheets, drawings and equipment lists and confirm overall product scope committed by the sales team.
  • Determine project schedule and develop a plan to meet delivery requirements
  • Work with customer and sub-vendors throughout project to maintain delivery commitments.
  • Prepare project documentation and deliverables i.e. customer approval drawings, test procedures, material certifications and product data
  • Procurement of instrumentation and other non-raw material components
  • Confirms product performance by designing and performing tests
  • Work within and adhere to ISO Quality Management System as well all mandated safety regulations

Safety:

  • Follow established safety procedures as outlined in employee manual and updated guidelines communicated by safety committee
  • Ensure Product design I in accordance with applicable national and international codes and standards
  • Maintain general housekeeping policies of a safe and clean work area
  • Adhere to test procedures standards
  • Follow all safety procedures outlined at customer sites during Commissioning and field service work

Quality Assurance:

  • Maintain quality standards of department as it relates to ISO 9001 Quality Manual
  • Adhere to engineering standards with relation to document control and engineering design
  • Ensure product is assembled in accordance against the work file issued by engineering
  • Adhere to ASME Sec. VIII quality procedures

Communication:

  • Customer interface with regards to progress reports, specification review and project revisions.
  • Continuous follow up with Sub-Vendors to ensure on-time delivery of long lead purchased components
  • Routine interface with various departments within the company including, Engineering, Production and Sales throughout project life.
  • Post Project follow up with customer as well as possible face to face dealings during startup and or post commission field service visits.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proficient in latest version of AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or minimum of 5 years of industry experience
  • Work with existing software to develop and produce drawings and Bills of Materials
  • Develop project schedules, Gant charts and other documentation using various computer software based programs
  • Willingness to work with hands

Non-Essential Requirements:

  • Electrical design
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations (UL 508A, NEC)
  • Knowledge of hazardous areas, ATEX and global standards
  • Commission equipment at customer site and field service visits

Level 1 Assembly Mechanic: Entry level

Job Description:
Entry level Assembly Mechanic is introduced to products manufactured by PDC.
Responsibilities consist of but not limited to working together with a seasoned mechanic assembling basic mechanical and rotating equipment such as diaphragm compressors, pressure vessels, various pumps, magnetic drives in addition other activities consists of building bench and pilot plant scaled laboratory systems.

Job Purpose: (Entry Level) Assembling of Mechanical Equipment

Job Duties:

  • Safety compliant
  • Following both verbal and written instruction
  • Capable of understanding engineering drawings and associated bills of materials
  • Pride with the building of equipment
  • Cleaning, pre-washing mechanical parts
  • Capable of bending and routing stainless steel tube lines primarily using but not limited compression fittings, pipe threaded fittings and cone and threaded fittings
  • Capable of threading and bending carbon and stainless steel pipe (sch-40, 80, 160)
  • Capable of running electrical conduit
  • Performing preventive maintenance
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications etc.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical competency, welding experience a plus
  • Dependable, on time, punctual
  • Has own hand tools
  • Has own valid drivers and auto insurance
  • Organized individual, demonstrates neat and organized work methodology

Level 2 Assembly Mechanic: Building

Job Description:
Building level Assembly Mechanic responsibilities consist of but not limited to assembling mechanical and rotating equipment such as Diaphragm Compressors, Pressure Vessels, Pumps, Magnetic Drives in addition other activities consists of building bench and pilot plant scaled laboratory systems. Preforms task unsupervised and capable of working either alone or with a team. At level 2 the person is expected to build complex assemblies with minimal supervision.

Job Purpose: (Mechanical building level) Assembling of Mechanical Equipment

Job Duties:

  • Safety compliant
  • Following both verbal and written instruction
  • Capable of understanding engineering drawings and associated bills of materials
  • Pride with the building of equipment
  • Cleaning, pre-washing mechanical parts
  • Capable of bending and routing stainless steel tube lines primarily using but not limited compression fittings, pipe threaded fittings and cone and threaded fittings
  • Capable of control or signal/power properly pulling wire per instruction
  • Capable of threading and bending carbon and stainless steel pipe (sch-40, 80, 160)
  • Capable of running electrical conduit
  • Performing preventive maintenance
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications etc.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical competency, welding experience a plus

Level 4 Assembly Mechanic: Building, Testing and Field Service

Job Description:
Field Service level 4 Assembly Technician responsibilities consist of but not limited to assembling and testing mechanical and rotating equipment such as Diaphragm Compressors, Pressure Vessels, Pumps, Magnetic Drives in addition other activities consists of building bench and pilot plant scaled laboratory systems. Preforms task unsupervised and capable of working either alone or with a team. At level 4 the person is expected to build complex assemblies with minimal supervision. In addition to the above responsibilities, the technician will demonstrate competence in the testing the various products manufactured by PDC and have proved their ability to travel worldwide, troubleshoot, interface well with others and show significant understanding and knowledge of product.

Job Purpose: Field Service Level

Job Duties:

  • Safety compliant
  • Following both verbal and written instruction
  • Capable of understanding engineering drawings and associated bills of materials
  • Pride with the building of equipment
  • Cleaning, pre-washing mechanical parts

Bucks County Community College, Advanced Manufacturing Metalworking Program

PDC Machines is pleased to partner with the Center for Workforce Development at Bucks County Community College to build the workforce pipeline for skilled workers in manufacturing. The 12-week pre-apprenticeship program has been successful in sourcing, training, and placing dozens of students into good-paying jobs that offer long-term career opportunities.
