PDC's compressors (diaphragm) for use in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (car,
bus and forklift fueling) as well as solar power, wind energy and biomass
power. Typical gases include Silane, Fluorine and Nitrogen Trifluoride and
many other specialty gases.
General Specifications for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Compressors
PDC designs basic to fully instrumented compression systems in accordance with customer specifications.
Compressors range in size from 1 hp to 25 hp. Discharge pressures up to 60,000 psi (4,100 bar).
- Design pressures to over 60,000 Psi (4,100 bar)
- Gas flow rates over 1250 SCFM (2000 Nm3/hr)
- 1 to 250 hp for wide range of flow rates
- Self-clamping boot strap design for pressures over 10,000 psig (690 bar)
- Corrosion resistant materials for compatibility with various process applications (300 Series SS, Inconel®, Monel®, etc.)
- Ductile metals seals to meet low leak rate specifications (10-8 cc/sec Helium)
- Electric or air driven
Basic Compressors
The basic single-stage diaphragm compressor includes a static conductive, oil resistant V-belt drive system,
non-sparking OSHA belt guard, electric motor with adjustable rail, welded steel framework, diaphragm failure
leak detection system, after-cooler and inlet filter.
Two-stage compressor includes the above as well as an inter-stage gauge, inter-stage accumulator,
inter-stage relief valve, inter-cooler and after-cooler.
Instrumentation and Controls
A diaphragm compressor complete with instrumentation and controls includes the basic compressor, noted above,
as well as a control panel, transformers, relays, motor starter, start-stop button, suction pressure switch,
discharge safety pressure switches (low-Hi) and (Hi-Hi), suction and discharge pressure gauges, water flow
indicator and switch, temperature indicators, auto-unloading, status pilot lights or annunciator panels, etc.
PDC can supply a hard-wired relay logic control or fully programmed PLC system.
PDC diaphragm compressors can be provided with complete instrumentation for automatic or
remote operation. Every system is supplied completely piped, wired, and fully tested before shipment.
